Facehugger Alien – Life Cycle of the Alien Species to Adulthood
This article is a explanation of an Alien from the picture “Alien”. A Facehugger Alien is one of the several levels of life an Alien will follow before reaching adulthood. The beginning of life start in the egg. The egg is shrouded in a protective layer of mist. The “Mother Alien” can lay hundreds of eggs in one day. The eggs will remain dormant without need of outside influence from the mother. Once the mist layer is breached by an unsuspecting host, then the alien inside the egg awakens. The mist acts like a spider’s web, awakening the alien inside.
The egg opens from the top, permitting the air to fully awaken the Alien. The shell of the egg is made from a very hard substance. It is very thick and can only be destroyed through explosives, bullets or other fast moving projectiles. It is impossible to destroy the egg with the bare hand.
The host’s curiosity, becomes its first and last mistake. The egg is hatched with the Facehugger positioned at the base of the egg, in a recoiled state. Upon looking into the opened egg, the host is attacked. The Alien will leap out of the egg and attach itself to the face of the host. It accomplishes this, by grabbing onto the head of the host with its eight finger like legs. The “finger like legs” are also used for running, navigating through tight spaces and jumping.
Once attached to the victim’s face, it is impossible to pull off. The legs fasten around the host and make it impossible to pull the Alien off. Any attempt to pull on the Alien will result in a tighter more deadly grip around the host. The Alien has one single design and that is to stay alive long enough to implant a embryo into the stomach of the host.
First the Facehugger will strangle the host to render it unconscious. Once the host is out, it penetrates the mouth opening and slide an elongated appendage from its head deep into the stomach area. The appendage severs two purposes. The first purpose is to supply the host with oxygen. The second purpose is to implant an embryo through the mouth and into the stomach.
Trying to cut the Alien away from the host, creates a more dangerous situation. When an the skin is cut, it immediately begins to bleed. The blood from the Alien is not only toxic, buy acidic. It will burn through all metals, skin and anything else that gets into the path of the blood.
The Alien will leave its host once it is satisfied the embryo has reach maturity. Facehuggers do not live long. They live only to ensure the survival of the embryo by attaching to a worthy host. Once the cycle is completed, it will detach from its host and die. Its purpose has been served.
When the host come out of its comma like sleep, hunger will set in. No physical trauma is apparent and for all intent and purposes the host will feel fine. Yet within a short amount of time, the Alien will be ready for birth. At this time the Alien will burst from the stomach, instantly killing its host. Aliens reach maturity in a very short amount of time. Whereas humans will take years to mature into self sustaining beings, Aliens will accomplish this same growth rate in a matter of days .
